Bury are expected to swoop into the EBB Stadium on Saturday afternoon with little fear following three straight away victories and a run of eight games without defeat while The Shots will be hoping they can prevent a repeat of the performance they produced against Crewe Alexandra last weekend, which saw them suffer their biggest league defeat of the season.
Although last weekend's second half went some way to eclipse the shortcomings of the first, The Shots were once again unable to make their efforts in front of the goal count, and manager Kevin Dillon will be hoping that fortunes in front of goal begin to reflect the chances that his side have been making sooner, rather than later.
The Shots enter the match in ninth place with eighteen points from thirteen games while the Shakers are six places higher in third, with twenty-five points from the same amount of games.
Shots team news
While Shots manager Kevin Dillon maintained that he wouldn't change a winning side, last weekend's 3-1 defeat at the Alexandra Stadium is expected to herald alterations in his starting line-up with the midfield particularly ripe for change with both Manny Panther and Ben Harding being slightly below par against the Railwaymen in the manager's opinion.
Dillon has also hinted that it could be time to give a start to the talented Jermaine McGlashan [pictured top right] following his ever impressive performances in a bid to see how he can perform against strong opposition and speaking to The Stray Shots ahead of this weekend, he said: "They [Bury] have had a good run.
"They were probably promotion favourites last season and we finished above them and beat them at their place which probably knocked the stuffing out of them a little bit.
"I know Alan [Knill] well, he's a good lad and works really hard. They're in a great area as well, they've got a lot of Premier League clubs around there which he seems to draw on, he's got a lad from Manchester United [19-year-old Nicky Ajose] who seems to be doing really well for him so it'll be a tough game.
"We've got to be at our best to get a result and following the result up at Crewe, I'm hoping for a positive response."
Reece Connolly will be absent having joined Didcot Town on a month's loan this week while Glen Little is likely to return to the starting line-up following the knock he took to his ankle a fortnight ago against Morecambe.
The three-match ban that John Halls is waiting to begin has been confirmed as starting on Tuesday [vs Hereford United] so he is also available having sat out last weekend's defeat on the bench.
Shots from: Jamie Young, Ben Herd, Anthony Straker, Glen Little, Anthony Charles, Darren Jones, Ben Harding, Luke Guttridge, John Halls, Danny Hylton, Marvin Morgan, Manny Panther, Jermaine McGlashan, Wade Small, Damian Spencer, Jack Randall, Marlon Jackson and Clayton Fortune.
The opposition
Having signed a one-year contract extension on Monday, Shakers manager Alan Knill was quick to point out that the hard work has only just got underway at his club, but he also confirmed that he would continue to use the attacking brand of football which has seen his side remain at the right end of the table for the last three seasons and Knill is well aware of the challenge that his side could face at the EBB Stadium
"Our games against Aldershot always tend to be exciting," admitted Knill to the Bury Times this week. "They have been up there, like us, for the last three seasons and their manager, Kevin Dillon, knows his stuff from being at Reading for so long.
"It will be a good game and we're looking forwards to it."
The Shakers will be without first choice keeper Cameron Belford [fractured cheekbone] but have moved into the emergency loan market and secured the services of 23-year-old Stockport County, Owain Fon Williams who is likely to deputise ahead of 19-year-old Richie Branagan.
Striker Andy Bishop is also expected to be missing as he continues to suffer with tendonitis.
Bury from: Owain Fon Williams, Richie Branagan, Phil Picken, Joe Skarz, Tom Lees, Ben Futcher, Peter Sweeney, David Worrall, Steven Schumacher, Andy Haworth, Lenell John-Lewis, Mike Jones, Ryan Lowe, Efetobore Sodje, Kyle Bennett, Damian Mozika, Zach Rothwell, Krishnan Patel and Nicholas Ajose.
