For those old enough to remember The Shots pre-1992, the news will be most shocking as the club revealed that it is in desperate need of a £500000 cash injection.
Although several ideas have been mooted, the bottom line is that the club need to review their position with regards to running costs and make drastic cut backs in order to safe guard its future.
In an overview of 2005/06 season, shareholders were told:
i. There was a gate income decrease of £155,000 and a drop in attendances of 24%
ii. Turnover decreased by £182,000
iii. The performance of the Club Shop/merchandise was down by 54%
iv. The overall trading loss for the 2005/06 period was £202,000
Although things look bad, the shareholders were also informed that the club were working to establish a five-year strategy including reviewing the roles, responsibilities and competencies of existing Board members together with succession planning and that there were areas being explored by the club in a bid to raise the required funding.
