Aldershot Town Vs Charlton Athletic Reserves

Addicks' Reserve boss Mark Kinsella is likely to be without any of Alan Pardew's First Team stars, who are expected to be retained ahead of their home fixture against Athletic Club Bilbao. However, as with the Chelsea and Spurs XI fixtures, Gary Waddock will be well aware of the high standard of opposition and will have prepared his injury-depleted side accordingly for the stern test ahead.

Kinsella's men have already featured in four pre-season fixtures this season - losing 1-0 away against Bromley, winning 9-0 away against Braintree Town then 1-0 away at Dover before they suffering a 3-1 defeat against Grays Athletic away from home last weekend.

Those performances helped Kinsella and some of his side when they stepped up to the plate on Wednesday to join First Team Assistant Manager Phil Parkinson who took control of an Addicks' XI, defeating Dulwich Hamlet 3-1.

One familiar face might arrive in the form of last season's Conference top scorer Stuart Fleetwood, who missed a penalty against Dulwich following his summer move from Forest Green. That side also featured promising French full-back Yassin Moutaouakil; winger Lloyd Sam; and midfielder Amdy Faye, making his comeback from long-term injury.

Algerian midfielder Madjid Bougherra definitely won't appear against either Athletic Bilbao or The Shots, having signed for Glasgow Rangers on Thursday night. And with goalkeepers Nicky Weaver and Robert Elliot both injured, leaving Charlton short of shot-stoppers, 17 year-old Callum Christie could feature in the first team squad, having started against Dulwich.

Last season The Shots recorded a 3-1 victory over their visitors at the EBB Stadium in a Reserve League fixture, but suffered a 2-0 defeat in the return match at Ebbsfleet. Recent friendlies, too, have brought mixed fortunes, with an 8-0 thrashing in July 2005, followed by a rather more respectable 0-0 draw last summer.

As ever, of course, Waddock will care less about the result than getting his squad fit, hungry and honed for the serious business of meeting Accrington Stanley just a week away.
