After watching a team of "Shots trialists" narrowly defeat Sydenhams Wessex Premier side Alton Town last weekend, Setanta Sports reporter James Gibson looked ahead saying that Gary Waddock would probably be the first manager to shake hands with Luiz Felipe Scolari - but while that honour along with all the media interest it would bestow on the club, it looks very doubtful indeed.
Speaking after the match Waddock said, "I don't know if the manager's going to be there - it's a Chelsea XI so it would be nice if they had one or two main players come down, but it's a fitness exercise for us. Whoever we play against - it's a Chelsea XI, so they'll be quality players."
While there is a slight chance of the former Portuguese National Team boss attending the match, it is left to Blues Reserve manager Brendan Rodgers to prepare his side ahead of the match and The Shots First Team players will be expecting at least forty-five minutes of hard graft each.
The Blues Reserves for their part, will also be looking for some much needed match fitness and will be in desperate need of impressing Rodgers ahead of their possible involvement in the Champions Youth Cup, and with Scott Sinclair and Jack Cork both focusing their attentions on the UEFA U19's Championship in the Czech Republic at the end of the month, there should be a couple of talented future full Internationals on display.
With seventeen year old Gael Kakuta recently signing professional terms for the Blues after a very impressive time in the Youth side, the youngster is expected to feature against The Shots as he steps up a level, while third year academy player Morten Nielsen - son of former Danish International Benny Nielsen, will be looking to shine and is rumoured to be looking for a loan deal so will want to impress any watching scouts.
