Alexander To Land Shots Job?

Last updated : 26 April 2007 By Stray Shots Team

The Aldershot News has reported that the 50-year-old has applied for the job — alongside a lengthy list of candidates thought to include the likes of Graham Westley, Graham Rix and Frank Gray — and will be considered a strong candidate to replace Terry Brown, who left the club last month.

He refused to confirm or deny his interest to the News earlier this week, but admitted he had applied for the job previously — only to see it go to Brown — and would welcome a return to football management.

Alexander has been out of work since January, when he left The Posh by mutual consent following six straight league defeats, but has extensive lower league experience following spells at Ilkeston Town between 1995 and 2000 and Northwich Victoria in 2000-01.

However, it was during his time at Lincoln City that he really made his name, taking over at the start of the 2002-03 season on a limited budget and guiding his side to the play-off final, only to be beaten 5-2 by AFC Bournemouth at the Millenium Stadium.
