Monday evening saw a joint statement made by the administrators of Aldershot Town Football Club and the consortium who are hoping to run the club.
The official Shots website has tonight (Monday 15th July 2013) published a joint statement in which the joint administrators and the consortium which is being headed by Shahid Azeem, suggest that their bid to purchase the club is ALMOST complete.
In the statement, it says that all parties are delighted to announce that at a meeting this afternoon, an agreement in principle was reached whereby both parties will enter into a Conditional sale and purchase agreement (to be signed tomorrow morning) with a view to the consortium taking the club out of administration and ensuring the club's long term future, specifically playing Conference National league football next season.
The text continues: “The sale has been achieved against a backdrop of many issues and could not have been achieved without the massive support of the fans and creditors whose donations and generosity have helped bridge the funding gap required to meet the CVA and Football Conference rules. This together with sums paid by the consortium, both to settle Creditors and to provide working capital to fund the club going forward, ensure a bright future for the club.
“The Agreement is still only conditional as the transaction needs to be ratified by the Board of the Football Conference and until they have confirmed their approval, we should still be mindful of this last hurdle to overcome. We expect to meet the Football Conference over the next few days and a further announcement will be made. However, in anticipation of receiving their agreement, football training has commenced again in readiness for the start of the season.”
