Alsop Set For Shots?

The Citizen, which covers Forest Green Rovers has reported that manager Gary Owers is resigned to Julian Alsop playing for one of Forest Green's Conference National rivals next season.

The larger than life striker looks set to join his former Cheltenham team-mate, John Brough, at Aldershot, leaving Owers looking at other options to bolster his front line. Alsop played three matches for Forest Green last season before serving a season-ending suspension and his contract at The Lawn was cancelled.

Although he still lives in Cheltenham and has trained with Rovers under their new full-time regime this summer, his appearance in a trial match for the Shots earlier this week appears to have caught manager Terry Brown's eye.

"It looks like Julian has gone elsewhere," Owers said. "He was training with us, and now he's not, so it looks as though that one's gone now."

Alsop is a very similar player to Tim Sills so it will remain to be seen if their is any truth in the report over the coming weeks.
