Shots boss Terry Brown has warned that the side still have some way to go before “turning the corner” as he prepares his men for the the visit of old foes Hereford United tonight (ko 7.45pm).
Saturday's win against York City lifts the side away from the relegation zone, and a win tonight would see the Shots just four points behind their visitors.
He told the Aldershot News, “We've not turned a corner by any means, what we've done is give ourselves a bit of breathing speace to go into the next game.
“Both sides are a little out of sorts as Hereford aren't the Hereford of last year either. They've got 15 points which is considerably more than us but we've just got to try and get through to the end of the week when we can get our injured players back,” said Brown.
The boss still has Ryan Williams doubtful, while skipper Steve Watson is also unlikely to start after Saturday' exertions.
With Gary Holloway and Darren Barnard coming through their minutes unscathed they are likely to feature by coming on from the bench.
Speaking after the game on Saturday, Brown said: “Overall I am just delighted and of course relieved that we have won the three points. On another day York would have got something out of that game.”
But it was the Shots who claimed the maximum points, and with it they maintained their 100% record in the Conference against York.
Andre Boucaud's 25 yard strike was well parried for a corner but Aldershot were standing up to be counted and it was no surprise that they took the lead.
They were awarded a free kick just outside the right of the penalty box, Reed stepped up and shot without troubling the York keeper. However referee Fred Graham pulled play back for an infringement and the re-take saw Crittenden angle the shot around the wall and into the top corner of the net.
The second half was a similar battle with the Shots enjoying more of the ball but York created chances.
On 64 minutes Andy Bishop fed Clayton Donaldson, he rounded the advancing Bull and slotted home into an empty net.
Bull produced an excellent close-range block from substitute Bryan Stewart at the other end and at this point maybe a draw would have been accepted by all present.
But the Shots won a free kick just outside the area, and substitute Darren Barnard struck home sweetly via the underside of the bar to give Aldershot their most important victory of the campaign so far.
