BBC SCR To Re-Launch Popular Coverage

Last updated : 14 April 2006 By Stray Shots Team
In a message on the Shotsweb message board, the station announced:

"We will once again have Conference pre-match build-up, Conference commentary shared around the 3 clubs (or 4 if Farnborough come up!), and Conference/National football and full Sports round-up 5-6pm

The BBC SCR website will continue to carry the Surrey/North Hants/Crawley output, so the chosen radio commentary game will also be available on the web. And midweek Conference games will continue on the Internet (line bookings permitting)

THE PROPOSED NEW SHOW GUIDELINES
Many of you might realise that infact, the "new" show is the old show back again. In many ways, indeed it is. But what you may have forgotten is that before the "One show" and moans about the excluding of proper Non League post-match reaction, the moan was about the choice of Conference commentary game every week - did we favour Woking, or Aldershot, or Crawley.

Next season the show will be presented from Woking, Aldershot, Crawley and Farnborough Town in rough turn. The "commentary game" will often be the long, away game but not exclusively. And the commentary WILL BE interrupted for our other featured games. The modern nature of listeners is a blend of Radio fans who can't travel to away or home games, and internet fans out of the transmission area who rely on BBC Local radio for all their own club and british/international/Southern Counties Sporting needs all together on a Saturday.

A reminder your ideas and thoughts always welcome ... tim.durrans@bbc.co.uk

PS The two shows will start in August due to staffing not permitting a change until then.

Tim

The move will be a welcome return from this season where Brighton have been favoured to the annoyance of most of the areas non-league supporters.
