Big Blow For Brown As Crittenden Departs

The Aldershot News has reported that Shots chief Terry Brown had offered a deal to keep the former Chelsea wide man at the Rec for a third year, but the 27-year-old now looks certain to join Conference newcomers Weymouth as a result of talks and a medical with boss Garry Hill this week.

Crittenden's future at the Rec has been in doubt since Christmas with rumours of his west country girlfriend being unhappy in the area and wanting to move closer to home.

He was linked with a move to join Jon Challinor at Exeter City earlier in the year, but the lure of a big money full-time contract at the Wessex Stadium proved too tempting.

Brown said: "We have made Critts an offer as he is one of the players we would ideally have like to have kept.

"But there are family issues at stake here as well and we knew that there was always a chance he would be moving on this summer.

"I'm not confident he will re-sign for us at all. I know he's been having talks with Weymouth and I think there's a good chance that Critts has played his last game for us.

"It is a blow for us because Nick has been a very valuable member of our side these last two years and obviously he will be missed."

Crittenden's imminent departure is indeed Brown's first major blow of the summer, but if more west country rumours are anything to go by, then it might not be his last.
