Board Restructuring Announced

Last updated : 06 April 2009 By Stray Shots Team
Supporters fears have been eased further today following an announcemnt by popular Shots Chairman John McGinty regarding the much rumoured "take over".

With no news being shared by the club in recent months, speculation was growing in the supporters camp regarding the financial position of the club but in recent days a "meeting of shareholders" and now confirmation of the restructuring has been revealed which has put supporters minds more at ease.

In another open message to the clubs official website, Mr McGinty has announced that that the club is being restructured in its chain of management with the dismantling of the present board which will be replaced by a new Board of Directors.

The "new" board will be known as the Investment Board (IB) with an Operations Board (OB) that will assist and report on the running of the club to the IB.

The IB will consist of five Directors who have invested their money in our club and are vital for the future stability of Aldershot Town FC. In the present business climate they should be extremely welcomed by us all.

The following are members of the IB:

Tim ELLIOTT
Tim is a Chartered Accountant who has supported Aldershot and Aldershot Town FC for many, many years. Tim is the Managing Director of EBB, one of the largest paper suppliers in the country and the proof of his valuable support can be seen around the EBB Stadium. Tim was generous in his response last year when there was a swift replacement of the main sponsors. It is the second time EBB have become main sponsors of the football club.

John LEPPARD
John has also invested in the club and is also extremely ambitious for the club and its future. John is a lifelong supporter of both clubs. He was previously Managing Director of Charters Peugeot which resulted in Charters being the main sponsors of the football club in two separate periods. Charters are still very generous sponsors of the club and their support is greatly appreciated. John has been a Director of the club since 1997.

Leighton MOAT
Leighton is the Managing Director of a very successful optical business with outlets in various parts of the UK. This will be Leighton's second term on the ATFC Board. He has returned with the positive intent to take the club forward. He firmly believes that the club can do better and his aim is to break even or even make a small profit.

Kris MACHALA
Kris is a businessman who lives locally in Camberley. He has also invested into the club. He is seeking to improve the various potential sources of income once established at the club. He is keen for the club to succeed and will work to achieve all he can for the club.

John McGINTY
John will be the Chairman on the IB and will continue to work tirelessly for the club. The annual accounts will show how much he has loaned the club over the years. Over many, many years he used to advertise my company at Aldershot FC. From time to time he also assisted the old club with financial support. He was honoured to become an original Director when Aldershot Town was formed in 1992. He has now retired and sold his company and is now in a position to commit more time to the club.

Operations Board (OB)

The formation of both boards was presented, proposed and unanimously accepted at a Board Meeting on 12th February 2009. The purpose of the OB is for Directors who have been invited to take charge of their own departments and to send reports to the IB. They will not be members of the IB.

The members of the OB are Tony Taylor who has been appointed Chairman. He has been working at the club for eight years and has recently launched our Centre of Excellence. He has a good working relationship with Gary Waddock. He has been intrinsic in bringing in new and much needed financial investment into the club and his position is unique in that he can combine his financial and football knowledge to help the club go forward.

The directors acknowledge the service and dedication of Peter Bloomfield over the 17 years since the formation of ATFC (1992) LTD. It is hoped that he will continue to be a vital part of the OB where his knowledge and experience will continue to be of great value to the club.

The other directors to serve on the OB will be Simon Groves, Tony Cotugno, Keith Able and Tony Brooker.
