43-year-old Dean Holdsworth has extended his contract with The Shots.

The former Crazy Gang player joined the club midway through the 2010-11 season as they were struggling above the relegation zone after former manager Kevin Dillon found managing in the lower leagues was tougher then expected and after leading the team away from danger he took the club to eleventh place in last seasons npower League 2 table with limited resources.

Speaking to the clubs official website, he said:  "I am delighted to sign a new deal.

"My staff and I have worked extremely hard and the confidence that the club has had in us is fantastic.  It is nice to be appreciated.

"We have taken some steps forward within the club and we are heading in the right direction.  We know where we are at this moment in time and know what we want to achieve.

"It is a good place to be with the Chairman and Rich Low, who has been significant in this agreement.  We have confidence that we can continue making progress in the next couple of years.

"I am highly ambitious and I am enjoying management.  The excitement of managing Aldershot just seems to be getting better and better.  There is a buzz around the place and I want to help create more of that.  I enjoy working at the club and there is a tremendous team spirit here."

Director and Chief Operating Officer Rich Low added, "I realised in January that Dean was the right man for the club.  My plan coincides with his vision and he is a key part in the club achieving its strategy for the future.

"Dean has a key discipline ethic and he insists on the same criteria with the players that he brings into the club.  He has a skill in spotting potential problems and is quick to react to situations for the benefit of the club.  Everything is planned and that is a massive strength on Dean's part.

"It is about Dean's team too. It is strong. He is the key member but without his staff we couldn't achieve what we need too. This is a big signing for us."
