Brown Concerned As Season Gets Closer

Terry Brown has spoken to the Aldershot News this weekend about the trialists saying, “It's very frustrating for me having to watch the sort of sides I'm putting out at the moment. I know what I want and we've ear-marked two or three of those spots with loan signings.

“I'd love to have those players on board, we'd look a lot better if we did and I'd be a lot happier if we did but I'm not going to be able to get loans for another couple of weeks”.

The boss also revealed that he has struggled to actually get potential signings to play, as they arrive demanding contracts without wanting to play in games.
“Unless I can get to see the player and watch him play I'm not interested, we've signed players like that in the past and had our fingers burnt.

“It's worrying until they've put pen to paper, it's all very well earmarking them but until they come on board I'll always be a little bit apprehensive.”

Brown is hoping that centre half John Brough will be back for Wednesday night's trip to Lewes (ko 7.45pm), while Bull will be notching up more minutes after coming through an hour unscathed on Sunday.

Gary Holloway and Tarkan Mustafa are unlikely to be fit by the start of the season, while Brown is hopeful that Darren Barnard, Tim Sills and Steve Watson will have run-outs before the visit of Tamworth.

Although Chris Senior was absent from the team-sheet on Sunday, Brown confirmed that he is still in talks with the player's agent, and hopes to be bringing in a couple more faces this week.

Brown added: “I'm trying to get things ship-shape for Lewes, if I'm starting with Lee and Nurse in the middle then they have got to play games together. It'll be less experimentation and I'll get down to something near the side that's going to start the season.”
