The Aldershot News' Rob Kelly has spoken to Shots manager Terry Brown about his transfer targets and he has categorically ruled out any move for Ashley Sestanovich, who left Farnborough last week.
There had been widespread speculation about the former Boro man joining the Recreation Ground following his Farnborough departure but as with most speculation it has amounted to nothing.
Brown has however that he is interested in former Exeter City midfielder Danny Clay.
At present though, the boss said the priority is strengthening his defence after missing out on one of his primary transfer targets, Reading defender Johnny Mullins, who signed for Mansfield last week.
Brown told the News, "We were chasing Johnny for more than a year and he would have filled our problematic right back spot," Brown said. "Obviously it's disappointing to lose out on him but we have several alternatives lined up.
He continued, "We probably have about six places to fill but we've got three or four players in line for each of those spots. We have offers on the table for players in all six of those positions and we're just waiting for their decisions now.
"My main priority is to get in some centre halves, but it's a really difficult position to get the right players — it is a very competitive market.
"I also need some forwards to play up front with Jason Lee. I have made some progress recently and I'll be having talks with two strikers over the next few weeks."
