Brown's Back On The Hunt

The Aldershot News have reported that Terry Brown will be running the rule over several new triallists as Bristol Rovers visit the Recreation Ground tonight.

Former Oxford United and Rushen & Diamonds striker Mark Rawle is expected to play up front alongside former Yeovil Town hitman Kezie Ibie, as they look to earn contracts at the Rec.

Also on display will be another former Oxford United man, midfielder Daniel Brown, whilst the boss will also be casting his eye over a new left winger and a goalkeeper.

Meanwhile Brown is also hoping secure the signature of striker Julian Alsop this week. The 32-year-old former Oxford forward has impressed Brown during pre-season, and is thinking over an offer.

With League clubs due to make decisions on their triallists this week, the boss is hoping to add to his squad with some senior names, but has asked the fans for patience.

One blow however is that long-term target, Matt Somner could be playing against the Shots tonight, as he looks set to join Rovers.

He said: “I expect to make some senior signings this week. I've been able to look at all sorts of players, but most of them haven't been what we're looking for, I'm looking to get better in. I have to be patient and the fans have to be patient because we will be bringing good players in.”

The boss, however, revealed that four triallists pulled out of playing in the match against Championship side Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, thus hampering his decision further.

He added: “The side out there is nowhere near the side that will start against Tamworth. Today wasn't strong enough although I was very proud of the effort they put in.”
