The Shots boss also nearly signed a League two defender this week, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute due to terms.
Brown has told the paper though that former centre back Brett Johnson is not one of the two on his wish list despite admitting that talks to bring the 20-year-old back to the Rec have been ongoing.
Johnson is being looked at by his new manager at Northampton John Gorman this summer before anything is decided, but don't be surprised to see Johnson donning the red and blue shirt at some point this season in a loan capacity.
Brown had his men in for the start of summer training yesterday in preparation for the visit of Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
He told the paper, “I'm delighted with the seven players I've got in but, let's face it, the chances of all seven coming off are slight. If five or six can then we've got a quality side in the making.
“It's a big ask for a manager to start off with a bare six players and ask 11 new players to gel straight away so there's a lot of work to do.
“Pre-season is important to us but if you ask me what I wanted most out of pre-season, it's to be injury-free. We had so many last year in what was a small squad and I can't afford to go through that again.”
