Bull Setting Sights On Decent Finish

Speaking to www.theshots.co.uk keeper Nikki Bull has been speaking about his return to the side this week saying, "I was delighted to be back in the team at Port Vale after a frustrating period on the sidelines due to injury.

"The gaffer and I had a chat about a month ago and we agreed that I really needed to get fit. The injuries had caught up with me and it was important to go away and work hard on the running track, in the swimming pool and in the gym. I felt good on my return in midweek. Credit to Jim Joyce, the physio, who has put in a lot of work for me too.

"Port Vale was a challenge and fair play to the boys that came in. The whole team put in a lot of commitment and we have lacked that sometimes this season.

"The gaffer said before the match that we had the worst away record in the division and he followed by saying that if he was us he would be embarrassed. He is right and we are embarrassed. A lot of performances on the road this season have not been good enough.

"Aldershot supporters will always back you if you show commitment, application and desire. If you don't then you must take the critics too. At Port Vale I thought we stood up to the challenge and we did a job. Goal less draws in this league are not bad results.

"We know as players at times we have not been good enough but this squad does have the makings of being good too. There is plenty here to work with. I said at the start of the season that this squad had not peaked. They are young and the players will get better and there have been plenty of lessons to learn during the course of the current campaign too."
