Youth team captain Adam Brice who was one of the few players left on the clubs books, has been allowed to leave the club and sign for rivals Woking.
Despite not having seen him play in the youth set up, Shots manager Andy Scott reportedly told the player last week that he didn’t have a place for him after watching him for just thirty-minutes on the pitch in last Wednesday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Portsmouth.
Although Scott will want to bring in his own players for the difficult challenge ahead, the players departure will come as a shock given that he made a record amount of appearances for the youth side and was recommended to make the step up by the clubs senior professional development coach, Terry Boyle – who also appears to have left the club.
Fellow youth product Reece Beekles-Richards has also been released on the same day.
Both players had huge potential and had a third-year option with the club this season so given that they were earning just £90 per week, we can only hope that the poorly managed club hasn’t just shot itself in the foot yet again.
