He told the local media, "Aldershot's offer was always the main one for me and, in truth, I agreed a new contract with them two weeks ago, but it's dragged on a little, the club wasn't quite ready.
"But we got together on Tuesday and I'm very pleased. There were a few other bits of interest. I'm at the point in my life when I'm looking to settle down and have a family. Money can talk when you are in that situation. But I wanted to stay at Aldershot and play with them in the League, plus I have a lot of friends here and the atmosphere in the squad is second to none.
"And it's been a big, big plus to see so many of the out-of-contract guys committing to the club," said Day.
Day, who has signed a one-year deal, will be competing with Blackburn, Anthony Charles and Dave Winfield for two central defensive positions. Plus there's player/coach Ricky Newman, who can play at the back, and new-boy Dean Howell also comes into the equation, should Waddock ever choose to play three at the back.
But Day isn't fazed. "I think in the Football League you need a squad of 24 or so and you're always going to have four or five centre-backs in there," said Day.
"I've been playing football for ten years now and every season I've had centre backs you know you've got to do better than. It's part of the challenge."
