The Southern Daily Echo has reported that Jason Dodd is in talks to join the Saints for a third time.

The article, which appered on Friday, stated that the legendary former Saints right back, who has spent time as a player, coach and caretaker manager at the South Coast club, could make a dramatic return to St Mary’s by the end of next week.

The Daily Echo understands Dodd has been in talks with Chairman Nicola Cortese over a role at the club, however it is not believed to be connected with the first team.

Dodd is currently in caretaker charge of League Two side Aldershot but is expected to leave there and return to his spiritual home at Saints after the Shots have taken on Rotherham tomorrow.

Dodd, who is now 38, made over 400 appearances over 16 years as a player at Saints.

Dodd meanwhile has told the media in North Hampshire that he fully expects to be in charge of The Shots when they take on Bury in the FA Cup First Round next Saturday afternoon.
