With news breaking yesterday that Dodd had applied for the Southampton Academy Development Manager position, the official Shots website confirmed that the caretaker boss had accepted the position at the League One club which he begins on Monday morning.

Acting Shots Chairman John Leppard saidtold the site: "We are aware of Jason's situation and wish him well in his future role at Southampton.

"Jason will be preparing the team this week and taking charge for Saturday's FA Cup tie versus Bury before he leaves the club."

The Chairman did however, have some positive news and ended by saying: "I can confirm that we are hoping to be in a position to name the new permanent manager of Aldershot Town Football Club during the course of the next few days".
