Championship side Swansea City have completed the signing of Aldershot Town midfielder Scott Donnelly. The exact level of compensation for the 22 year-old is yet to be revealed, but Shots manager Kevin Dillon has acknowledged that it will be "a very good transfer fee with a healthy sell-on clause too".
Donnelly, out of contract at the EBB Stadium, had been the subject of much speculation ever since several bids from Wycombe Wanderers in the January 2010 transfer window, but has now returned to the 2nd tier of English football, where he began his career with Queens Park Rangers.
Donnelly made a total of 72 starts for Aldershot Town, plus a further 16 appearances as substitute, scoring 20 goals. Last season was his best-ever return, with 14 goals and 11 assists. He scored the goal against Exeter City which secured the Blue Square Premier title for The Shots, and also the Club's first goal in the Football League, a typically brilliant free-kick at Accrington Stanley in August 2008.
