Donnolly Set To See Out Contract At The Rec

Scott Donnelly looks set to remain an Aldershot Town player - until the end of the season at least, following the latest in the on-off saga on the players move to Wycombe Wanderers.

Speaking to Aldershot News reporter Charlie Oliver this week, he said:   “It looks like I’m staying.

“I’m quite pleased, really.  Now I can concentrate on getting back to what I am paid to do - playing football.

"I can focus on getting back to my best form and making sure I am in the thoughts of the Gaffer [Kevin Dillon].”

The 22-year-old midfielder was on his way to team up with former manager Gary Waddock at the Buckinghamshire club on transfer deadline day last week, only for Aldershot to pull out of the £40,000 deal.

A loan move was mooted in the national press — but Aldershot Chairman John Leppard quickly poured cold water on the rumours leaving the player, who has reportedly turned down an initial "improved" contract offer, with no option but to see out his current deal at the EBB Stadium which ends in the summer.
