EBB Injury Crisis

Gary Waddock: Injury headache.
Shots boss Gary Waddock spoke after todays training session and told the media that his side are suffering from an injury crisis ahead of tomorrows League Two clash against Rotherham United.

With the season drawing to a close and safety assured, Waddock could consider himself lucky in that respect, however he said, "We have a critical situation with regard to injuries at the moment. There a number of players who will not be available for selection for the Rotherham United match and, importantly, four of those players - Chris Blackburn, Marvin Morgan, Rhys Day and Ben Harding are out for the season.

"I have called up two of the youth team players into the squad and they may feature. This is a delicate issue because with youth I am a great believer of blooding the youth team players at the right time. I don't want to put them in too early and affect their development but having a small squad has finally caught up on us and we have to address that situation.

"This is not ideal and whilst it won't have a major effect on this season it is a fact that if this kind of situation had happened earlier in the campaign it would have created a real problem for us. Funds are tight at the club and in the world in general but as we look ahead the problem is that if you go with a bigger squad it can create an additional financial burden but we will have to look at this.

"My interest is Aldershot Town Football Club and only that and we have to make sure that we are capable of competing in this league, getting the right players in and having a squad that can get us into a position where we are challenging in the future.

"The fans have been fantastic throughout this season. We are playing a good, organised side in Rotherham United on Saturday. We are putting out players who, in some cases, have not played regularly plus the youth players who could be involved. It will be a tall order but I know the fans will get behind the lads."
