The former Halifax Town forward had a successful introduction to the England squad last week as he represented his country and scored in the 3-0 victory against Scotland as Paul Fairclough's side won the Four Nations Tournament with three successive victories.
John is one of eight players named in the squad that featured in Scotland.
Talking to 'The Shots' John said, "It was a tremendous experience for me representing England and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I came on as a substitute against Ireland where we won 5-0 and then started against Scotland and Wales.
"It was a great feeling and hearing the national anthem beforehand made me really proud. Paul Fairclough is a top draw manager and is really keen on team meetings, spirit and physcology. We had some quality players in the squad and the standard was good".
Another member of the squad in Scotland and for the Finland match is Mark Molesley who is no longer a team mate of John's. John, however, speaks highly of the Stevenage bound midfielder.
"Mark always gives 100% and was unfortunate that he didn't score more goals for us. He has great energy levels and it was just a shame that we were unable to keep him but I am sure he will do well in the future.
"For me though I am looking forward to going out to Finland and this experience is really developing me into a better player.
"You have to believe that you are the best player on the pitch when you are out there and have a confidence.
"Even as a kid I can remember playing against Michael Owen in a reserve match when he was returning from a hamstring injury. I had the belief that I was the best player on the pitch even though he had played for England at the World Cup finals. He scored one and I scored one and I just always have that positive belief when I am on the pitch.
"Playing in June is unusual but I would take it all day every day just for the experience playing for England. Winning the Four Nations Tournament last week was the first trophy I have won since I left school. Hopefully I will be able to experience it a bit more here at Aldershot too."
