Hampshire Senior Cup Match Off

Terry Brown has told the clubs official website www.theshots.co.uk that he was disappointed that the match was called off saying, "This was a game we desperately needed to play."

He continued, "This tie has been hanging over for too long now and I wanted to complete the match. We will now have to look at a new date".

The decision has again raised doubts over the standard of the surface at the Recreation Ground this season, with so many games being played on it - and with several games coming up in the next few weeks, things may get worse before they get better.

Brown said, "It is getting worrying. I have been to watch AFC Wimbledon v Chelmsford City just half an hour away and everything is fine there.

"It is obvious that we need some remedial work done on the playing surface to get some air into that pitch and get the water into the drains because that is not happening at the moment.

"We have a key period coming up with many matches at the Rec and we need a good surface to play football on."
