The Aldershot News has reported that clubs such as Northampton Town, Brentford, West Ham and Bristol City are all said to be eyeing up Shots players, one to have caught the attnetion of Cobblers boss Colin Calderwood is young defender Brett Johnson (pictured.)

The 19-year-old, who has come into his own this season under the guidance of former Northampton Town player Ray Warburton, could well be on his way to forging a league career.

Under Bosman rules the club would be entitled to compensation as Johnson is under 24, but boss Terry Brown says that he would not stand in the youngster's way if a League team were to swoop in for him.

Brown said: "I couldn't run a football club any other way, when you get youngsters in you say to them that you will help progress their careers.
“If a team of that calibre, or another football league club came in and the player wants to go, you can't stand in their way. They'll be no good to you anyway.”

And Johnson isn't the only player to be attracting interest, Darren Barnard and Will Antwi are rumoured to have caught the attention of Plymouth boss Bobby Williamson, while Shots keeper Nikki Bull has been tracked by West Ham scout Ludo Miklosko.

"With certain players that could be moving on we would be getting compensation for them, if a club like West Ham came in for Nikki Bull then we wouldn't stand in his way either.

"We would come up with some kind of deal that recompensed us in some way as we did for Adam Miller when he moved to QPR. He's coming on the tour with us, which shows how he appreciates what we have done him,” added Brown.
