Is Holloway Changing Sides?

Aldershot News reporter Rebekah Wheeler has reported that Gary Holloway was weighing up his options following talks with several clubs.

One thing was clear however, his days at Cherrywood Road are over.

“I'm still talking to clubs, I am talking to Aldershot and some other clubs and as far as I'm concerned I have left Farnborough Town.

“It's a hard decision, I need to think about my football and some other things, I want to make the right decision and make it soon,” he said.

The 23-year-old re-joined Farnborough in the summer after originally leaving the club to join Stevenage with Graham Westley. Since his return Holloway has consistently delivered man of the match performances, and due to a clause in his contract he is a free agent. Now he faces the prospect of taking on his former side in his first game if he signs for the Shots.

Holloway said: “It's a possibility, I could sign for Aldershot tomorrow and be playing for them on Saturday.

“It would be weird but I suppose once you get out there it's just another game of football.

“It's a local derby which I'd love to play in and win with Aldershot, I've nothing against Farnborough I just want to be part of a winning team, I've forgotten what it feels like!”

Shots boss Terry Brown has been linked with the creative midfielder for some time, and is a known admirer of his qualities.

Holloway took the chance to check out the Shots, as they beat Exeter — another team after his signature — on Tuesday night at the Recreation Ground.

“I went down there last night to watch the teams, I thought it was pretty even, although Aldershot won, and there wasn't anything that either side did that will help me make my decision,” he added.

Holloway maintained that he had not left the struggling side due to Boro's well-documented off-the-pitch activities, and claims he is leaving to enjoy a new challenge.

Holloway added: “I want to get back into full-time football and play for a team in the top half of the table that is pushing to get into the league. I like Farnborough as a club, I like the players and I had a lot of good times there but I need to think about my football.

“The stuff off the pitch hasn't helped the team but for me it's not about that, I want to be in a play-off team and whichever team I join I'll be doing my best to help them win that place.”

With thanks to the Aldershot News.

Footnote:  It is expected that Holloway will not feature for either side tomorrow.
