Johnson showed maturity beyond his years in putting the pressure of a big crowd and TV cameras behind him on the way to yet another man-of-the-match performance in the big local derby with Woking last Sunday.
In a little over 12 months, Johnson has emerged from the Ashford Town youth set-up to one of the most sought-after young defenders in the Conference — and he puts it all down to his team-mates who he claims have helped him through it.
Following the derby match he told the Aldershot News, "I thought at the start of the season I would be a fringe player but its gone really well for me.
"Unfortunately Ray Warburton was injured today but I think I took my chance pretty well.
"I've really enjoyed played with Will Antwi, Warbs and Gilo they've all been superb for me.
"Last year when I joined from Ashford, my debut was against Barnet on TV and I was so nervous I was sick before the game.
"But I've been with the players eight or nine months and I feel a lot more comfortable with them.
"Being here has dramatically improved my game. I feel I'm more astute now, I can read situations better and also I've got sharper in the sprints and more aware.
"Today was an immense feeling. To win a big derby game like that in front of the cameras was unbelievable. I can't believe we won 4-0!"
