Lancashire Joins Shots

Aldershot Town Football Club have announced that central defender Olly Lancashire has joined the club and agreed a a two-year contract which will start from 1st July 2012.


The 23-year-old Basingstoke born player is a former Southampton youth product who progressed through to the first team featuring for the south coast club when they were in the Championship.

Having made over 100 senior appearances, he joins the club from npower League one side Walsall, where he has spent the past two seasons and speaking to the clubs official website, Shots manager Dean Holdsworth said: “Olly is a bright young man who has a good stature and a real desire to come to us and play for the club.

“His background bodes well.  He has bought into our plans.  I want a centre half who can handle the ball too as well as being a solid defender.  Olly can do this and will fit in very well.  I am looking forward to working with him.”

Lancashire continued: “I met with Dean and am really impressed with what the club has to offer.

“I am a former Aldershot Schoolboy too and played at the EBB Stadium for the district teams as well as for Hook Junior and Robert May's School.

“I am looking to playing locally again for a club that has a solid set up. I do know some of the players there and they have all spoken positively about what is going on. I am keen to get going and happy to be here”.
