Maidenhead United Vs The Shots

Ben Harding - Expected to continue his trial with The Shots on Saturday
Hippolyte, commonly known to most as "Drax", is now manager of the newly promoted Conference South outfit Maidenhead United, a club most definitely on the up.

Speaking to local media, Drax has stated that his aim this season is to avoid relegation, however although focusing on a mid-table finish, is very keen to aim for the play-off's and will be confident that his side will be capable of achieving his goal.

The Magpies are currently being put through their paces in their pre-season preparations as they gear up for the tough season ahead and Drax is fully aware that he will require fit players in order to meet the challenge ahead.

With opening "friendly" victories against Hanwell (9-0) and Woking (1-0), our hosts will not be feeling fazed by the visit of Waddocks men and with several new signings include midfielder Wes Daly from AFC Wimbledon and young striker Carl Wilson-Dennis from Eastleigh, the Berkshire club will be in confident mood ahead of the game. With most of the play-off winning side already signed up, another familiar face expected to be present in the Magpies side will be former Shot Dominic Sterling who, like his boss, was also a favourite during his time at the Recreation Ground.

Speaking ahead of the match, Drax said, "On Saturday against Aldershot I will be looking to start with eight or nine of my first team and then experiment with a few others.

"But that's what pre-season is all about, I'm pleased with the way we are shaping up."

Once again, The Shots are expected to play a mixture of first team players and trialists as Gary Waddock continues to cast his eyes over potential new signings and the match kicks off at York Road at 3pm.
