McAuley Leaves The Recreation Ground

The 27-year-old midfielder left the Recreation Ground by “mutual consent” having made 32 appearances since joining the club from Forest Green Rovers. Hugh had recently been transfer list by the Shots boss as he looked to off load players who hadn't been performing in an effort to free up some funds so as he could bring in some fresh faces in a bid to make the play-offs.

McAuley had joined the club with great expectations surrounding his ability – however he failed to live up to the promise and although he was forced to play a much deeper position than he was used to, he wasn't a fans favourite and became subject to many supporters criticisms.

Although Hugh had previously held an outstanding goal scoring record, he failed to hit the back of the net even once during his 32 games in a red and blue shirt.

It is not known if the player has a new club, however there was talk that former club, Forest Green Rovers may be interested in re-signing him.

Terry Brown will now be seeking midfield cover for Hugh – and rumours had already been flying around that there's interest in Farnborough Town's Gary Holloway, as well as the desperate struggle to find a regular goal scorer.
