Barnard - Now Out Until October
The Aldershot News have reported that the former Welsh international picked up the injury over the summer but was given the all-clear after seeing two specialists and undergoing three scans.

A third scan, however, last week revealed that the 33-year-old does indeed have a small tear in his groin that will require surgery.

“It's a nightmare, and a real pain because Barney has seen two specialists who said there was nothing wrong with him, now after a third, we are told he's got to have an operation.

“He could have had this operation over the summer and been back by now, but instead they're saying he'll be out for at least another three weeks but I'll believe that when I see it,” said Brown.

Barnard is another in a long list to have been struck down over the summer, and as the Mail went to press, Brown was also waiting to find the results of scans on striker Tim Sills last week (foot) and goal-keeper Nikki Bull (knee).

“Both of those players I need to play, so we're waiting to see what the results say, if they're disbolical I don't know what we're going to do,” added Brown.

The boss will also be entering talks with Brighton boss Mark McGhee and Yeovil boss Gary Johnson this week over their respective loans of striker Chris McPhee and defender Scott Guyett.

“We've got both players for the Morecambe game but their managers will be watching the game on Monday night and then we'll be talking about their plans. I'm not sure if both will be able to stay but we always work on a worst case scenario,” added Brown.

The boss also cast his eye over two young strikers turning out for Millwall reserves last night as he looks to add another striker to the squad.
