Morecambe vs SHOTS

The Aldershot News have reported that Terry Brown is hopeful that his northern jinx has finally been broken after their 1-1 draw with Carlisle in December was followed up with a win at York City on Sunday.

Whilst Aldershot sit second in the form table with one defeat in their last seven league encounters, Morecambe have just one loss in their last nine —against York a fortnight ago.

These two sides fought out a thriller the last time they met, at the Rec in November, with the Shots leading the Shrimps 3-0 ten minutes into the second half.

But a thrilling fightback saw the visitors earn a point — as Michael Twiss, Danny Carlton and Wayne Curtis bagging the goals. Although a point was a disappointing result on the day, Brown will surely be happy to come away from Christie Park with a share of the spoils ahead of a tough, and busy month.

The Shrimps have been a hot topic in the news this week as they rejected a £50,000 bid for the Conference's second top scorer Twiss, from his former club Chester.

Twiss has 16 goals to his name, and with other strikers Curtis and Carlton on 12 and 10 goals respectively, they have proven goal-scorers and Brown believes the side will be in the Play-Offs come May.

Brown said: “I think their squad is one of the strongest in the league and if we come away with anything I'll be a happy man.”

With thanks to the Aldershot News.
