Nervous Shots Ease Browns Worries

Terry Brown has won a week long reprieve from unhappy Shots supporters after substitute striker Marcus Gayle managed to record a new Shots hat-trick record with the clubs first three goal blast since Aaron McLean scored one against St Albans City in 2003.

The three year wait has been worth it as Gayle found his way in to the Shots record books by managing to shave 2 minutes off the former record which was held by striker Roy Young, by scoring all three of his goals in 9 minutes and 39 seconds.

Speaking to the clubs official website, www.theshots.co.uk Brown said, "It was a very nervous day. You have to say that we started off very brightly and I was pleased with the early performance. We started the game in the right manner with playing three up front and we got the goal that you would expect to be enough but, of course, it wasn't.

"Whilst the two goals they scored may have looked good I was particularly disappointed with the way we defended. We had six red shirts behind the ball for the second goal and nobody squeezed them."

The result may well have only papered over the cracks which have appeared in the side but at the same time will have given a much needed boost ahead of next Saturdays very tough home match against Morecambe.
