38 year old Ricky Newman who spent a season at Griffin Park prior to his arrival at Aldershot in the summer of 2006 has spoken to The Shots following his first home start of the season and said, "It was nice to be back in the team and after the the results of the last couple of weeks we needed to get a result against Brentford.
"It was good to play against my old club. We are pleased with a point but to be honest we felt that there were times when we could possibly have secured all three. The gaffer spoke to me in the week and he said he was looking at playing me as we had been a bit open.
"I think we were a bit tighter in there against Brentford and the boys at the back were a bit happier. I sat a bit deeper during the second half and all we were missing really was that extra goal. I like to communicate and talk on the pitch. With some of the younger lads it is not a natural thing for them to talk a lot and help them."
