"Sadly I have to inform you of the departure of Nikki Bull after six years with the club.
I had a conversation with Nikki on Thursday evening regarding his decision whether to sign or not to sign, he chose not to sign thereby refusing this offer which is a very substantial increase on his previous contract.
It is a sad conclusion to what proved to be a long period of negotiations and I can only wish him well for the future.
As your Chairman I spent some considerable time on this and was bitterly disappointed not to have secured his service for a further two seasons.
Thank you Nikki for what you have done for the club, good luck to you and your family.
John J McGinty
Chairman"
Nikki Bull let a message for the fans on the Shotsweb messsage board on Friday afternoon:
"Last night signalled the end of an era in my life and career, i am deeply disappointed and frustrated at not only the circumstances in which i have departed the club but also the views and comments made by many of you on the the message board, I believe i have been a good loyal servant to Aldershot Town football club and wanted to stay part of the club going into the football league, unfortunately events out of my control over the last 10 days have prevented me from doing this. Having read some of the messages on here over the last few days i am devastated that there is a number of you that hold me accountable for me leaving this club, even though you do not have all the facts. I have no intention of getting involved in a debate with people at the club of whom i have had a fantastic relationship with over the last 6 years and if they wish to try and place the blame on me to take the heat off of there own inappropriate actions then that is there choice. One day the full story will come out and those of you that have made unpleasant comments about me will be proved very wrong . The past week has been one of the worst of my life and the urge say certain things is great but I will not allow myself to be sunk down to that level. All i do know is that the night at Canvey Island, the Play off win at Hereford, the dramatic win at Torquay, and the night at Exeter are now tarnished memories in my mind and that hurts, I also know that when i went to bed last night and laid my head on my pillow that my conscience was clear, i know for sure there will be one or two people that wouldn't have been able to say the same."
I wish the majority of you well and hope the new season in the football league brings you both joy and success.
Bully"
We at the Strays doubt that we have heard the last of this matter but, in the meantime we wish Bully all the best for his new family and further success wherever he ends up playing.
