Angelo Harrop: On trial with The Shots.
In the article it is announced that Stanway Rovers playmaker Angelo Harrop, is heading to Aldershot Town for a trial and the Coca-Cola League Two side have given the 22-year-old former Colchester United youth teamer five days to prove what he is capable of.

Harrop, the son of former U's director of youth football Geoff Harrop, has been in good form in Rovers' midfield this season, helping them to the fourth round of the FA Vase for the second successive year.

He re-signed for Stanway this year following spells playing and coaching in America and Romania and recently turned down a move to Ridgeons League Premier division rivals Harwich and Parkeston, but is hoping he can impress enough at his trial to gain a deal with the North Hampshire side.

"We had a good run in the Vase and the management said there would be people watching us," he told reporter Simon Spurgeon.

"I went to Romania in the summer and a club there called Galacticos offered me a four-year deal, but you can imagine what it was like living there and I decided to come back. Harwich showed an interest, but I decided to stay with Stanway because the management have showed a lot of trust in me this season and I like it there.

"It would be a fantastic move to go to Aldershot, though.

"I hope they have an idea already and I know it will be tough, but I will go there, work hard and see what happens.

"I feel I'm ready for it as we do a lot of fitness work at Stanway and my dad is director of football at Northampton now and I will be working with them for a few days.

"I know it will be difficult, but I have five days to impress."

The official Stanway Rovers website has announced that their club "have received interest from league two side Aldershot Town" for the 22-year-old midfielder and that he will be attending the club for a week long trial from Monday 16th February 2009 and that he will be hoping to seal a a full time contract with The Shots.

Rovers joint manager Paul Symes has said, "I'm pleased for Angelo and he definately has the quality to step up to professional football.

There is no way we can stand in the way of a young man who has such high ambitions and we hope he impresses at the trial."
