Pre-Season Starts On Monday

The club's 16 contracted players will report back to manager Gary Waddock and his coach Martin Kuhl — and Waddock issued a warning to his players that they had better have been keeping themselves in shape over the close season.

"The training will be as intense as it has ever been," said Waddock. "The players will definitely have needed to have looked after themselves.

"To be fair, however, they have always done so since I have been at the club and I'm confident they will have done so again. Professional footballers tend to look after themselves well these days. All the players had a training programme to follow. I am sure they have done that and the various tests will show it."

Waddock himself is looking forward to working with the players again and he is also more than happy with the pre-season games that he has lined up, ahead of the first League Two fixture, at home to Darlington, on August 8.

"I'm looking forward to Monday," said Waddock. "It will be good to get the preparations under way. I am very happy with the games we have lined up."
