He told the paper, “It is a balancing act really between getting revenue in and also getting the right opposition. However, I am happy with the home games we've got because they are all really going to test us.
“On paper we shouldn't be winning any of them apart from the AFC Wimbledon game but they're all going to be very tough matches.
“One of the things I want to do this year is make sure we have one of the best defences in the league. The fact that we will be playing teams like QPR and Brighton is fantastic, it will put a lot of pressure on the defence and gives us the chance to build a solid unit there.
“The most important games this summer will be the home games but the away fixtures will also give us the opportunity to score a few goals and allow me to give some triallists a run out.
“In a perfect world we would be starting the pre-season matches a week later but we have to play it on July 8. We have a agreement with QPR, who are bringing all their first team down, and they only had one date available, so that is why we are playing then.
“I am really looking forward to the pre-season — they should be tough but entertaining matches and will give me the chance to really put the squad to the test.”
