Sports reporter Steve Carroll from the York Evening Post has announced that Minstermen striker Michael Rankine will be joining Aldershot Town.
Speaking to City manager Gary Mills on Monday the boss told him that the player had told him the same day that he would be joining The Shots.
Speaking to Carroll, Mills said: “We made him an offer around Christmas and he turned that down.
"It came to light that a League club were chasing him so I had prepared myself for what was going to happen. You have to move on.
“The position of striker is something I have to work on. Ranks [Michael Rankine] has gone to Aldershot and it is time to move on.”
As yet there is no official announcement from the official Shots website and in this day and age, until pen is put to paper it is possible another offer could be made and he could be off to another club so watch this space!
