19-year-old Welsh Under-21 International Jake Taylor has joined The Shots on loan from Championship neighbours Reading.

The attack-minded midfielder was born in Ascot and is a graduate of the Royals' Academy system scored over 20 goals for the Berkshire Reserve and Youth sides during the 2009-10 season which saw him signing professional terms in the summer of 2010.

The player made his First Team debut a month later when he featured in a Carling Cup clash against Northampton Town and he also appeared in the final home league match of last season versus Derby County.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Shots boss Dean Holdsworth said: "I am extremely grateful to Brian McDermott and Nicky Hammond at Reading as we have been able to arrange the loan arrival of Jake.

"The agreement starts from Monday and Reading have given permission for Jake to be included in the squad for the friendly versus Brentford.

"He will provide options especially as Luke Guttridge remains sidelined through injury and is working to be fit for the start of the season. Jake comes with excellent attributes and I am really looking forward to working with him."

News on the official Reading website states that Jake has not been given permission to feature for The Shots in the Carling Cup, however he will not be available for the match against West Ham United as he has also been called up for duty with the Welsh U21's on the same night.
