The referee made the decision to go ahead - possibly as so many supporters had already entered the ground, however with the ball getting stuck with every pass, after just 9 minutes, it was decided, quite rightly, to call the game off.
Offical Shots website, www.theshots.co.uk has stated:
Supporters who attended the match are advised to keep their ticket stub that they obtained upon entry at the turnstiles. The ticket will be valid for the re-arranged fixture (date to be advised) or, alternatively, supporters can obtain a refund by sending the ticket into the club offices.
Speaking to the website, club Chairman John McGinty said, "It is a shame that the match had to be called off after starting and we appreciate that it is disappointing for the supporters.
"We are working with Rushmoor Borough Council to try to improve the situation regarding the pitch and negotiations are continuing with the council, with whom we work well with.
"However, having said that the volume of rain that the Recreation Ground pitch received in the build up to this game would have put paid to most matches. We thank the supporters for their patience and understanding in this matter".
