D'Sane used the interview as a last plea to boss Terry Brown to let him stay at the Recreation Ground, but as the paper went to press it was confirmed that his time at the club had come to an end.
D'Sane had told the paper that he wanted to stay at the Recreation Ground, amid claims he is only a month away from fitness but Terry Brown has decided that he can't take a chance on the striker.
The former top scorer had been sidelined since October after suffering tendonitis in his knee, and undergoing an operation earlier this year.
But Brown wasn't convinced that the striker would be fit to start the season and talks between player and manager broke down on Monday night and it was confirmed on Tuesday morning that D'Sane's future lies elsewhere.
The striker, who scored 27 goals in the Shots' first season in the Conference had endured a frustrating season, watching from the stands.
He told the paper, “It's been really hard, but the last few weeks have been getting better and I think I'm only about a month away from fitness, I know my body best and it's going really well.
“I'd love to stay but it's up to the manager now. I definitely feel that I'd be able to come in and score goals again, and as long as it doesn't affect me there's no reason why I can't be the same player I was the season before last,” said D'Sane.
The 24-year-old also paid tribute to the Shots supporters for helping him through a difficult season.
“The fans have been great, making the time to give me a pat on the shoulder or have a chat, and that's really helped me, along with the support from my family and friends. The manager's been brilliant as well as everyone at the club, who have all looked after me. Now I just want to get back to playing.
“I should be able to start the pre-season although my training will be different to what the other boys will be doing.
“I have to make sure the knee is OK, and I'm following a programme in the gym and speaking to Sue [Bowen] most days as well as the specialist and I feel it's getting sorted out,” added D'Sane.
As Brown continues his search for a proven striker, D'Sane had been hoping to be the man for the job, as he looks to put this season behind him.
He said: “I understand why Terry [Brown] is being cautious, football is a business and he needs fit players to come in and perform. Tim [Sills] and I are very different players, he helps me and I help him in different ways, I want to stay, I just hope it works out and I'm back out there playing very soon.”
