It had been reported that both Rovers and the Shots were in the hunt for the defenders signature, however in an interview with the local press, it was revealed that he will not be heading towards Nailsworth.
Brough, 32, was quoted as saying that he awaiting a final offer from Aldershot before deciding whether his destination would indeed be the Recreation Ground and with the fellow Conference club dropping out of the running it appears that Terry Brown has all but secured the experienced defender that he was looking for following Ray Warburtons retirement.
Talking of the signing, Yahoo Sport reported, "Conference side Aldershot appear to have won the race for the player.
Club chairman Karl Prentice said: "He is happy with the terms we have offered him and it is now just a case of relocating the player.
"We've been in talks with him this week and all that remains now is fine tuning of the deal. It should be done and dusted by Monday."
Brough spent six seasons at Whaddon Road before failing to be offered a new contract this summer. He made his last first team appearance for the Robins in November when he was replaced at half time in a 3-1 FA Cup defeat at home to Swansea.
