Shots Trust Chairman, Terry Owens has told the Aldershot News that he wants out of contract players to put themselves forwards and rise to the challenge of keeping the club in the Conference Premier at the end of the 2013-14 season.
With Aldershot starting the season on -10 points, only 6 players currently on the books and unable to sign anyone on contract, the mission is tinkering on impossible, however Owens told reporter Jon Couch: “We now know where we are and to start the season on minus-ten points presents the manager and any player who comes to Aldershot Town FC with an exciting challenge to overcome the deduction and keep us in the division at the end of the season.
"If I was a player, I would be wanting to take up that challenge to put on my playing CV. “
Indeed, with most clubs generally returning for pre-season training in the coming days and the first of the two friendlies arranged by the club due to take place in a little over four-weeks time (at home on Saturday July 20th), manager Andy Scott will be hoping that he has a team to field.
