Gary Waddock has been speaking to the local media as he waits to hear if goalkeeping hero Nikki Bull, club captain Rhys Day and experienced striker Junior Mendes will sign the contracts that they have been offered and Waddock is optimistic that Bully will begin life in the Football League at the Recreation Ground.
"We are all hoping he'll commit," said Waddock. "The club have made him a good offer and we are waiting for him to reply. It's his decision and hopefully we'll have news on the situation shortly."
Last season's captain Rhys Day is another out-of-contract and yet to sign.
"Rhys has been away for a few days but I should speak to him again this week" said Waddock.
The club are also waiting to hear back from striker Junior Mendes and his agent, after making him a contract offer.
The situation with midfielder Scott Davies is however, out of the clubs hands.
"Reading have made Scott an offer," said Waddock. "So for now that's out of our hands and we'll have to see what develops." Reading will be playing in the Championship next season after their relegation from the Premier League.
Waddock is also looking to strengthen his squad and said that, as well as out-of-contract players, he is looking at individuals who would most likely require a small transfer fee.
