In its article Brown told the website, "We have been fortunate to sign Dean. We were able to watch him for most of last season when he was playing for Chelsea Reserves. It is a difficult ask for a young lad to crack it in the Chelsea side.
"In normal circumstances it would probably be expected for Dean to have gone to a Football League club but he is a young lad who has over 40 reserve team appearances behind him for Chelsea and he is impressed by what he has seen at Aldershot which is pleasing".
