With just five squad members contracted for next season so far, Shots fans could be forgiven for being concerned but Brown insists that he should have the nucleus of the squad signed up by the end of the month.
“There has been considerable progress lately,” he said. “I am hopeful that this week will be one of two big weeks for us in terms of signings this summer.
“We should have two or three players signed up this week and I expect to make those announcements very shortly. There is a central midfielder and a full back coming in.
“I hope to have five players signed up by the end of May and then we will top that up in June and July. If I can find the players that I want, who are of the right quality, then the squad should be made up of about 16 to 18 players. If some of those big name signings don't come off then we will be able to have a larger squad.
“I found this period very frustrating last year but we have our noses in front this time round. The appointment of Simon Pullen has been very important and we are at least two months in front of the field and two months ahead of where we were last year.
“That is absolutely crucial for us and it ensures we have the opportunity to get to speak to players of real quality and get ourselves into a strong position. I am confident the fans will see some new signings on Tuesday or Wednesday.”
