The 27-year-old shot stopper has missed the clubs last four fixtures - three of which have ended in defeat.
Speaking to BBC Southern Counties Radio Waddock said, "He's got pain and we don't know what the problem is at present.
"The first two scans told us nothing. But we don't know if the answer is rest or what route we need to take."
With loan keeper Alex McCarthy joining the club, Waddock will have competition for the number one shirt and speaking to the Aldershot News The Shots boss said, "Mikhael and Alex are definitely competing against each other. Alex is not just here to cover Mikhael when Nikki Bull is injured.
"Reading would not have sent him here on loan if they did not expect him to be challenging to play as soon as he joins us."
